Biomass consists of various wooden materials, plants waste, animal and human wastes too.



Biomass is used for facility heating, electric power generation, and combined heat and power. This is a form of energy can be used in the provision of electricity for residential, commercial and industrial uses. The Bio Mass Energy is cheap and is renewable. It is also a clean energy, in other words, it does not release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The benefits of Biomass for energy generation cannot be overemphasized this is why many countries in the world have resorted to using Bio Mass for electricity generation.

Nigeria has been plagued with epileptic power supply which has seen the economy drain down over the years. Billions of dollars have been invested into the power sector, however, the country still battles to serve her populace of over 170 million people with only 2500MW. Biomass can be a solution to epileptic power supply in the country by adding more Mega Watts to the national grid.

Biomass can be converted into electric power through several methods. The most common is direct combustion of biomass material, such as agricultural waste or woody materials. Other options include gasification, pyrolysis, and anaerobic digestion. Gasification produces a synthesis gas with usable energy content by heating the biomass with less oxygen than needed for complete combustion. Pyrolysis yields bio-oil by rapidly heating the biomass in the absence of oxygen. Anaerobic digestion produces a renewable natural gas when organic matter is decomposed by bacteria in the absence of oxygen.
